Leicester weather is classified as temperate and variable throughout the year, with a combination of sunny, rainy overcast days that dominates throughout the year. These weather conditions indicate that a visit to the city is ideal at anytime of the year  The majority of the tourism is in the springtime. Situated on both sides of the river Soar the city of Leicester is considered one of the England’s larger cities.

Enclosed by gentle slopping countryside, the city also lies adjacent to the English National Forest, making the mild weather in Leicester a perfect spot for hikers and walkers alike. Centrally located and linked with extensive transport to surrounding areas, Leicester is easily reached from neighbouring areas, with much to see and do. Due to the temperate conditions of Leicester weather, the city is a host to the most popular attraction, Leicester Market, which is the biggest covered market in Europe and possesses a vast range of products.

Summer

Leicester weather during summer is comfortably warm to moderately hot. In the peak of the summer, the daylight hours can exceed more than 15 hours, thus making outdoor activities like open-air concerts and al fresco dining enjoyable. However, don’t forget to bring a jacket as the weather in Leicester can change in the evening going from the dominating warmth of the day to a slight chill that lingers in the air. Average daily temperatures during July hover between 22°C often topping 25°C, usually following slightly cooler patterns than those further south.

Winter

Leicester weather during winter is characteristically cold even though the occasional sunny day is likely to occur. The majority of precipitation occurs during winter, with December and January receiving the bulk of the rainfall. Snow is present during winter, the white blanketing along the river Soar being  a particularly fine sight to see. The city is host to the biggest food festival during winter, offering an array of delicious dishes that the many different cultures that reside in the city have to offer.

Leicester weather begins to clearly warm up by the beginning of April and by May, sunny warm days are abundant and getting longer. The gardens are full of flowers in bloom and the trees are beginning to dress up in their new green leaves garment.

During May, weather in Leicester is especially bright and pleasant, even though being in England, it is forever quite changeable: an overcast miserable day to begin with can turn into a day filled with clear blue skies and visa versa.
